It's Sammy the Shark's first day at school and he's terribly excited about it. But, oh dear, when Sammy gets excited he just can't help biting things. Can he get through the day without causing too much trouble and without eating the teacher?

Below is a QR to a book tailor  I made on Animoto!  It was very easy to make the free version, you can only fave a 30 second video which is really not enough time.

Kindergarten-Grade 1-Sammy the shark is so excited about starting school that he can't control his jaws. He bites through the kitchen table, then eats a classmate (but spits her out). He eats his painting, chews up the classroom, and then he almost eats the teacher. The lively illustrations show colorful, cartoon fish swimming through a classroom and smiling Sammy eagerly crunching everything in sight. Children will enjoy this as a read-aloud, chiming in on the chorus, "Oh, Sammy! Don't eat-." An additional but humorous, back-to-school story.

I have used QR Code in the library for a scavenger hunt to help students understand the Dewey decimal system.

I am using bloglovin' and tumblr!   This blog and blog reader is easy to learn and had a lot of information! Tumblr
I am following schoollibraryjournal, librarianproblems, elmirahslibrary, childitfan, and neverwithoutabook!  They all had great book reviews and had library ideas that would help every librarian.  The one I really liked was neverwithoutabook, it had books for all ages.

Teens, Technology & Friendship

     Interesting that the new contours of friendship in the digital age.  Teens friendship can start digitally, 57% teens have met a new friend online though social media or online gaming.  Boys are more likely to make friends on line than girls.  Facebook and Instagram and than networked video games are the sites most teenagers find friends.  More than 50% of teens text their friends on a daily basis.  83% of the teens say they hang out with their friends mostly at school.  Please check out this site it was informative and interesting!

Follow me Tweet


The one tweet that Kathy Schrock @kathyschrock twitted Aug 5, I enjoyed was the one Android apps for the applying level of Bloom’s.  This blog is very friendly and will help anyone remember how to apply the Bloom’s to any lesson.
              Linda W. Braun @lbraun2000 tweeted on Sept 1, 2015 I think everyone needs to read!  “We can no longer hld back students bc of r fears of what cld go wrong, but lead by focusing on what could go right.” Georgecouros.ca/blog/archives/.. In this blog it states about the principal of change and that change is the one guarantee that changes happens.  I love the quote a student said that is relevant to today’s way of life.

           “Social media is like water because it is everywhere in our life.  We can ignore it and watch kids drown, or we can teach kids how to swim.
 Which way are you going to go?”



                Periscope caught my attention from Tony Vincent tweet @tonyvincent on Sept. 1, 2015.  I am going to share this with my teachers.  Periscope videos are live but can be replayed on the web.  There was many times I would have a student absent that I would have to write out a lesson for them when they could just watch Periscope and understand what I was teaching for the day.

This was interesting on taking notes: Is the pen still mightier than the keyboard? This tweet was on Buffy Hamilton’s tweet @buffyjhamilton. I agree that “Longhand note-taking results in a better conceptual understanding of the material and is easier to recall later. I can take note all day long and recall that was said at a conference but give me a handout without me taken notes and I cannot remember anything.


The daring librarian @GwynethJones the tweet says it all!  Technology is the future!
Jim Lerman @jimlerman tweeted on August 31 about free technology for teachers: Good online Bookmarking Tools for Students by Richard Byrne sco.it/8HsUPB.  I always like free stuff.  The article was great and was about good online bookmarking tools for students.
