To Like or Not to Like

The blog for the day I will be discussing using Facebook to promote your school library. I see that several schools on Facebook include their activities and pictures of the students.  I see one advantages of using Facebook is it would get the word about different events and things that parents need to know. In today’s world technology is in everyone’s daily life.  Children love technology, they want to have it in their hands at all times.  I notice that many schools are using some kind of technology to communicate with parents. Using Facebook is quick and convenient way to share information.

School library Facebook pages look similar even though they are from different parts of the country even the world. School libraries are into the digital world with books, resources, and services that are offered in the library.  Why not use media when it is in everyone’s hand.  The libraries feature books and authors, post announcements and library activates.

Roosevelt-Wilson Elementary School Library (https://www.facebook.com/rwlibrary?fref=ts) uses social media. This library shares the activities they have done what will be happening in the future.  It also shares pictures of their student.

An advantage is the libraries are communicating with parents and students.  They can promote activities, events, and books.  A disadvantage is that not all students have access to the internet.
